Raahgiri Day, creating a whole new healthy, sustainable & vibrant city street experience

Raahgiri Day is India’s first sustained car-free day initiative. Started in Gurgaon, Haryana on November 17, 2013, Raahgiri Day takes place every Sunday, for 5-6 hours in the morning when 15 kilometers of major streets in Gurgaon are closed to motorized traffic to allow thousands of people to enjoy the open, public roads for walking, cycling, playing, doing yoga, zumba and other fun activities.

With thousands of people participating every Sunday, Raahgiri Day has been garnering significant public and media attention, and is building a powerful movement behind people-centric transport planning in our cities. Here is a short video on how it all started.
