Associate - Urban Development and Accessibility


Sahana is an Associate - Urban Development and Accessibility at WRI India Sustainable Cities. Her work includes generating publication ideas based on projects undertaken by the team and analyzing the current state of transport and urbanism in India to identify design, policy or implementation gaps that WRI India can address. Her current work deals with transit oriented development in India and the provision of safe access to station areas across urban centers in India.

Sahana has previously worked as an architect and urban planner in a private firm handling a wide range of projects from architectural building design to lakefront developments and pedestrian over-bridges. Her background in technical and academic writing includes developing fact-sheets related to water management strategies and water resources planning for the south east Wisconsin region and academic papers related to equity planning within economic development schemes of local governments in the US.

Sahana holds a Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, US and a Bachelor in Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, JNTU, Hyderabad, India.

Sahana is an avid walker loves to discover the cities she lives in on foot. Her other interests include writing about her travels and art journaling.
