Pawan is Head - Integrated Transport at WRI India. He is based in Bengaluru where his primary focus is working with various stakeholders and transport agencies to provide technical support, sensitize sustainable development and build capacity at various agencies. He coordinates the technical support for city bus service operations, feasibility and implementation of of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, parking policy reforms and comprehensive mobility Plans (CMPs) in Indian cities. Pawan recently authored “Bus Karo 2.0- Case Studies from India” and “Rethinking off Street Parking regulations around station areas (TODs) in Mumbai”.
Pawan has over 13 years of experience in the field of transportation planning and traffic engineering. Prior to joining EMBARQ India, he worked as a consultant for close to a decade in the USA. He has worked with more than 20 cities in providing mobility solutions including demand modeling, circulation, parking, congestion management and signal coordination. He was responsible for assembling project teams and leading them towards developing and determining transportation planning and design solutions for all modes of transport and also managing multiple partners and/or stakeholders.
As part of his research at Clemson University, Pawan published and presented a paper at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in 2004 on “Evaluation of Interstate Highway Capacity for Short-Term Work Zone Lane Closures” and was awarded the best paper award in the Work Zone Traffic Control Category. His recent paper on “Expanding Public Transport System through Feeder Buses” was recognized as the best research paper at the Urban Mobility India Conference-2013.
Pawan holds a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering and Planning from Clemson University, South Carolina and Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Bhopal. Pawan is a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Maryland, USA.
