Head - Capacity Building


Chhavi Dhingra is the global lead for Capacity Building at the WRI Ross Centre for Sustainable Cities, where she is responsible for scaling up research impacts by creating platforms for training and learning. For the last 14 years, she has been working on projects spanning a number of thematic areas like urban policy and planning, transport, governance, energy, climate and social inclusion. She has also led research projects/teams on urban development and mobility at the World Bank, GIZ (Deutsche GesellschaftfürInternationaleZusammenarbeit) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). Some of her notable works include an independent assessment of the projects emerging from the World Bank’s Leadership Training program for senior urban managers and high ranking city officials; a proposal that led to WRI India’s empanelment as a national training institution under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) by the Ministry of Urban Development, subsequently followed by the design and delivery of a 3-year long capacity building program for nearly 1000 urban officials in India; creation of the online knowledge portal of the WRI India Cities program; a report on the state of urban service provision in India for Rohini and NandanNilekani and published works on clean energy and public transport access in urban areas. Chhavi has a Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering and a Bachelors in Civil Engineering.
