Name: Neha Mungekar
Designation: Associate - Urban Development and Accessibility
Neha is an Associate – Urban Development and Accessibility at WRI India Sustainable Cities. The focus of her work includes projects that deal with improving pedestrian accessibility, developing high quality walking environments within critical urban areas, drafting gender sensitive guidelines and developing master plans and structure-plans for green field development using transit-oriented development. She is based in Mumbai. Neha is currently involved in the accessibility and transit-oriented designing of a single sector within the master plan of Naya Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
Neha has participated in interdisciplinary workshops in Russia, France and India. Neha has won the Indian Association of Human Habitat Annual Student Award for her transit-oriented development project for Ariankuppam, Pondicherry. As an architect, Neha has worked with conservationist Vikas Dilawari and was in the design team at Mungekar and Associates where she was involved with designing disaster resistant schools in Mumbai.
Neha is a gold medalist and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Academy of Architecture, University of Mumbai and a Master’s degree in Urban Design from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. She has also been trained in Earthquake Resistant Architecture at IIT Kanpur and has attended workshops on sustainable practices in CSR at Auroville and Pondicherry.
