Binoy Mascarenhas is a Manager - Urban Transport at WRI India Sustainable Cities, and is responsible for all road safety projects. Binoy has led safe street design and road safety audit projects in cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Indore, Bhopal and Surat. He also leads WRI India’s work on improving accident data reporting in order to better inform road safety recommendations.
Binoy has conducted road safety training programs in a number of cities, such as Chandigarh, Gangtok, Mumbai and Gandhinagar, through which he has trained 200+ government officials and bureaucrats on best practices in road safety. He is also presently leading the publication of a Guidebook for Safe BRT Design in the Indian context.
Binoy has 7+ years of work experience, across the fields of road safety, public health, urban transport, project development and statistical analysis. He has previously worked at IL&FS, where he was involved in the development of transport infrastructure projects in Mumbai. He has also worked as a business analyst at Genpact, (formerly GE Capital), where his work involved advanced statistical analysis, route optimization and process systemization. Binoy holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad; and a Master’s Degree in Economics from Gokhale Institute, Pune. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
